Fox Worx is our dedicated commitment to creating real opportunity for the people and communities around us.

Fox Worx is the social impact and workforce development arm of Fox Group. Through a portfolio of targeted programmes, we provide meaningful employment, structured training, and genuine career pathways for individuals who face significant barriers to entering or re-entering the workplace.

Our programmes span a wide range of initiatives: employment of serving prisoners on day release and pre-release support; work placements for at-risk young people; formal apprenticeships from entry level through to degree; the active promotion of women in construction; structured career pathways; community partnerships; and measurable social value commitments delivered through our procurement contracts.

We are also active signatories of the Lancashire Skills Pledge and proud holders of the Bronze Award under the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme - commitments that reflect the depth of our investment in the people and communities of Lancashire and the North West.

Across everything we do, we are guided by a single belief: that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a productive, fulfilling career. Fox Group is proof that this is not an aspiration - it is something we make happen, every day.

Our Programmes

HMP Prison Service Partnership

Fox Group works in close partnership with HM Prison Service to support the rehabilitation of serving and soon-to-be-released prisoners. We employ Release on Temporary Licence (RoTL) colleagues on day release, offering a safe and structured working environment before they return to custody each evening.

For Category C prisoners approaching the end of longer sentences, we offer a dedicated pre-release support programme, building a relationship, reviewing qualifications, and ensuring individuals are work-ready from their very first day of freedom. Many of our RoTL colleagues go on to enjoy long, successful careers with Fox Group upon release.

Fox Group supports approximately 30 individuals per year across these two pathways. According to Ministry of Justice data, adults who find employment after release are roughly half as likely to reoffend as those who remain unemployed. Every person we employ represents a life changed and a cost to the taxpayer reduced.

At-Risk Young People

Not every young person thrives in a traditional classroom. Fox Worx offers structured, supervised work placements for young people who are at risk of exclusion or currently excluded from mainstream education, giving them a real-world alternative that runs alongside their existing schooling.

Working with experienced professionals, participants develop practical skills, gain vocational qualifications, and build the confidence and self-esteem that can open the door to an apprenticeship or a full career within Fox Group.

Apprenticeships

Fox Worx runs a structured apprenticeship programme across multiple disciplines, from workshop-based technical roles through to degree-level qualifications. Apprentices earn while they learn, gaining nationally recognised qualifications alongside real, hands-on experience with one of the North West's leading construction groups.

Our apprenticeships are designed to create lasting careers — not just entry-level positions. We invest in our apprentices from day one, and many go on to hold senior roles within the business.

Women in Construction

Construction remains one of the least gender-diverse industries in the UK, with women representing just 15% of the workforce and fewer than 2% of on-site trade roles. Fox Group is committed to changing that.

We actively promote women in construction through our recruitment practices, visible female leadership at senior level, apprenticeship pathways, and educational outreach with schools and colleges. During Women in Construction Week 2026, we ran a spotlight campaign featuring women from across the business, from plant fitters and excavator operators to directors and business development managers, sharing their stories in their own words.

Fox Group does not simply meet industry benchmarks. We aim to set an example.

Our Commitments

Employment Pathways

Fox Group is built on a culture of promoting from within. We have examples throughout the business of people who started in entry-level roles and progressed to senior positions: a wagon driver who became a Workshop Manager; a night security guard who became our Senior Transport Planner; an apprentice who is now Office Manager at Fox Brothers (Leyland).

These stories are not exceptions - they are the Fox Group approach. We invest in people, recognise their contributions, and create the environment for them to grow.

Lancashire Skills Pledge

Fox Group is an active pledger to the Lancashire Skills Pledge, managed by the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub. We are committed to all nine pledges from inspiring young people and promoting apprenticeships to employing veterans and supporting adult skills. Our commitment to employing Lancashire people through our HMP Prison Service partnership has been formally recognised with an award from the Pledge.

Armed Forces Covenant

Fox Group is a proud signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and a Bronze Award holder under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. We are committed to ensuring that service personnel, veterans, reservists, and their families are never disadvantaged in our recruitment or workplace practices and we are actively working towards Silver Award status.

Social Value in Contracts

Our social value commitments are embedded directly into the way Fox Group does business. Across awarded tenders, we commit to measurable social value delivery through local workforce investment, accredited vocational training, educational engagement with schools and colleges, local supply chain spend, and direct community support, including our sponsorship of the Preston Grasshoppers Community Foundation.

Preston Grasshoppers Community Foundation

Fox Group is a Foundation Key Partner Sponsor of the Preston Grasshoppers Community Foundation. Our backing goes well beyond the shirt: we support the Foundation's whole mission of creating accessible opportunities for young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to get involved in rugby and positive, structured activities that support both physical and mental wellbeing. From summer camps for children to Walking Rugby sessions open to every age group, the partnership helps build a healthier, more connected community across the region, and we actively encourage our people to get involved, volunteer their time, and champion the work alongside us.
